A high pressure system will lie over Victoria during Wednesday and Thursday, with dry weather and lighter winds.

Our next front arrives on Friday. This one is a strong one, with cold air, and the belt of high pressure is pushed well north over Australia. This will bring snow from the start (no pre-frontal rain, thanks to a lingering cold pool). A follow up front arrives on Saturday, with more snow.

Friday into Saturday morning: 10 to 20 cm snow

Saturday night into early next week: 20 to 40 cm snow - see outlook.

Rest of Tuesday

Turning dry.

Wednesday

Dry, with a mix of sunshine and cloud.

Thursday

Dry, with a mix of sunshine and cloud.

Friday

Persistent light snow (above 1500 metres) from late morning, increasing in the late afternoon (and lowering to 1200 metres at night).

Saturday

Persistent snow - heaviest early and late (below 1200 metres early, above 1400 metres later).

Outlook: Snow should continue into early next week, if that belt of high pressure stays well to our north. ...
