A series of fronts and troughs are on their way - and it is warming up then turning cold.

A weakening front today does nothing for the resorts, it is turning sunny.
A trough and northwest winds warm it up tomorrow, bringing isolated showers and thunderstorms.
A strong cold front hits later Thursday, followed by another on Friday. Rain will turn to snow on Thursday night and persist until Saturday morning.

Another front hits later Saturday, bringing more snow.

How much snow...

20 to 30 cm Thursday night through to Saturday morning.
15 to 25 cm Saturday night to Monday.

REST OF TODAY
Dry, becoming sunny.

WEDNESDAY
Freeze level: Too high.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms.

THURSDAY
Freeze level: Too high, lowering rapidly at night.
Rain, turning to persistent snow at night.

FRIDAY
Freeze level: 1200 metres.
Persistent snow.

SATURDAY
Freeze level: 1200 metres.
Snow easing in the morning, then developing again later.

OUTLOOK
Snow continues through Sunday into Monday morning. It may fall well below 1000 metres.
There are signs of further systems from Tuesday.
