A high pressure system is to our north, while a cold front is moving over the Tasman Sea. The high will move to our northeast tomorrow. The airmass is mild, with snow only above about 1800 metres today, and 1700 metres tomorrow. It is only drizzle/light snow left.

The next cold front pushes through early Wednesday. This is much colder with a period of snow falling throughout alpine elevations.

Another weak front comes through on Friday.

How much snow...

Chance of 1 to 2 cm up high today and tomorrow.

3 to 8 cm Wednesday.

OUTLOOK

I feel a low will form over the Tasman Sea, with cold air over us in a southeasterly airflow. This should bring persistent snow for a few days - but too early for specifics.
