We are now in an extended period of snow.

A double cold front with a low pressure system affects us through to Friday night. Another front follows on Saturday, weakening as it crosses. Another front passes through on Sunday, then a final front hits on Monday night.

Heavy, persistent snow is likely on Thursday and Friday. Lighter snow showers on Saturday turn back to heavy snow for a period on Sunday. Snow showers then take us through to about Tuesday night.

Freeze levels lower this morning and are 1200 metres or below from this afternoon.

How much...

30 to 50 cm Thursday to Friday, possibly more.

Up to 5 cm Saturday.

15 to 25 cm Sunday to Tuesday.

= 45 to 80 cm from today to Tuesday - with the main falls being this afternoon into Friday morning.
