A bit of wind and possibly a bit of cloud today. All that snow and all those people sitting in offices unable to enjoy it. 'Twill be a brilliant un-crowded day in the Aussie Alps methinks.

Synoptic Outlook:
The high pressure system that's brought the fine weather over the last couple of days has squeezed out into the Tasman and we have a strengthening north-westerly flow today as a large trough approaches the bight and pressure gradients across south-eastern Australia start to tighten.

Tomorrow we'll see a bit of messy rain develop ahead of a cold front moving across Victoria. It only looks like 5mm for the Alps and as that front arrives in the evening the freezing level will drop and we'll be in for 5 to 10cm of snow. Most of that will fall on Thursday in a stiff westerly, with a second brief burst on Friday as the winds flick south-westerly.

Tuesday 28 August:
Fine. Moderate to strong north-westerlies tending northerly.

Wednesday 29 August:
A mix of patchy rain and snow developing from late morning, tending to snow during the evening. About 10mm/cm in total. Strong northerly winds tending westerly in the evening.

Thursday 30 August:
A few snow showers bringing another 2 to 5cm. Cold strong westerlies.

Friday 31 August:
A snow shower or two with a south-westerly change. 5cm max.

Extended Outlook:
Saturday through Monday look fine and clear, with something arriving on the Tuesday or Wednesday.
