Summary:

A strong high remains centred to our southeast, extending a ridge over the southeast of the country - bringing us a stretch of dry, warm and sunny weather.

The high will dissipate and move eastwards on Sunday, finally letting go of control of our weather. The run of sunshine will come to an end as the first in a series of cold fronts approaches. This first one will slide southwards, but a follow up front will cross the southeast of the country on Monday. After a long warm and dry spell, this will bring rain to begin, but there is sufficient cold air for snow to develop later on Monday.

Outlook:

Snow continues on Tuesday, most likely falling down to at least 1200 metres. This should deliver 10 to 20 cm by Wednesday.

The next high moves in, but is much weaker than what we have seen over the last month. There is the potential for a follow up snow system to move through later in the week.
