A high pressure system will make it dry for the next two days, and there should be mostly sunny skies. A cold airmass lingers, keeping temperatures below freezing for much of the time.

A low pressure system will move around the high, bringing rain to far western Victoria - but the energy from this system develops a deep trough off the NSW coast from Sunday.

This sees a surge of tropical moisture move down the east coast, so it will not be as cold from Sunday. The NSW coast should see a lot of rain, but I don't believe this heavy precipitation will penetrate through to the alps (the high tries to stop it). And lucky, as the freezing level should climb to around 1800 metres. The NSW resorts may see 5 to 10 cm only up high, Hotham and Falls Creek may see 1 to 2 cm, but Buller and Baw Baw will stay dry.
