An upper level trough is driving a low pressure system, located off the New South Wales coast - while a strong high sits to our southeast, extending a ridge over the southeast of the country.
Get used to this pattern as it will be with us for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
The cold air has now gone, and light rain/drizzle will clear tonight (as the upper trough moves further northwards), ready for a stretch of dry, warm and sunny weather.
Both the low and high start to dissipate and move further eastwards on Sunday - letting go of control of our weather.
Cold fronts will have spent the week hitting Perth then sliding to the southeast, but this trajectory will change early next week. We should see our first proper cold front in quite some time.
